My 1st experience at INAC general assembly
Having participated in similar networks in the past, INAC meeting at Den Haag was by and large in line with what happens in other networks. However, one thing which was quite different than the other networks was the binding amongst the members - perhaps it is the togetherness of the last 18 years, which has created such an excellent binding amongst the members. Briefly I carry the following impressions of INAC based on the Den Haag meeting.

1. INAC- A reservoir of search talent:
Most of the members have had a dedicated search practice for couple of decades and some of them are the biggest player in this domain in their respective countries. Grant Alexander- France, Dr. Maier and Partner- Germany, Passarelli- Brazil, Élan International- Italy, Hogstrom and company- Sweden are some of the names which would be leading player in the search business in their respective country. Some of the members like Grunewald Consulting – Germany has inherited search practice as a family business.

INAC therefore has very rich experience in search business and each of its members has proven track record in their respective countries. Maintaining leadership positions despite of global players presence, is not an easy task and unless one has the expertise, passion and commitment, one cannot reach numero uno slot and maintaining the leadership position is obviously far more difficult.

The cumulative experience continues to provide good learning to all the members and makes INAC a very good global partner for MNCs. Unlike the global players, the consistency and passion is guaranteed by the INAC partners because continuity of the top management team.

2. Binding amongst the members:
As already mentioned, binding amongst the members was unparallel - this obviously seems to be a result of knowing each other for a close to two decades- INAC started in 1992. Rich understanding of the search business, genuine concern about INAC growth and commitment to create a quality global search network was in abundance from all the members. This will no doubt drive the network to achieve its objectives in the near future.

3. Future:
The new President Mr. Remy Rodenhuis had prepared a very elaborate note on his agenda clearly outlining his priorities which was discussed in detail and appreciated. The assembly agreed to expand the board to have regional directors for equal focus in all the continents. It was also agreed to move quickly to get a full time professional on board to run the affairs of the network. I am more than confident that this will be the main agenda when next general assembly takes place in Peru in November 2010.

4. Impressions of Den Haag:
Rightly known as city of peace, justice and security, Den Haag - also known as The Hague is full of serenity, greenery and open spaces. The Peace Palace – the international seat of justice, Queen’s palace and Panorama were some great sights which one could visit. Panorama of course remains a unique creation of painting and this has not been repeated in the last 200 years and is not likely to get repeated in the near future as well. The city’s grandeur architecture is visible everywhere including of individual bungalows and houses. I also spotted an Indian restaurant, Maharani of India, which only opens for dinner and also met a very senior HR professional from India Ms. Livia Lobo who works for the company, Norfolk line at Den Haag.
